Apollo 11 Landing Site Approaching
The approach to Apollo landing Site 2 is seen in this photograph taken from the Apollo 11 lunar module in lunar orbit. When this picture was made, the LM was still docked to the Command and Service Modules. Site 2 is located in the center near the edge of darkness. The crater Maskelyne is the large one at lower right. Hypatia Rills (U.S. 1) is at upper left, with the crater Moltke just to the right (north) of it. Sidewinder Rille and Diamondback Rille extend from left to right across the center of the picture. This view of southwestern Sea of tranquility looks generally west.
