Happy International Postcard Week - October 6-12, 2019

This postcard is to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

For this years postcard, I decided to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.  It is amazing how far we have come in 50 years!  Back then you needed an entire room for a computer, now you can hold one in the palm of your hand.

Edwin Aldrin At Work on the Moon

At Work on the Moon

Edwin Aldrin inspects the footpad of the Lunar Module "Eagle" after it landed gently on the Moon's Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969, at 4:17 p.m EDT.  The footpad sank into the soil only about two inches.  In the weak lunar gravity, the astronauts weighed only one-sixth of their weight on Earth.

The prime crew for Apollo 11, astronauts Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E. Aldrin, watch as the space vehicle scheduled  to carry them to the moon was positioned on the launch pad.

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, lunar module pilot, faces the camera as he walks on the Moon during Apollo 11 extravehicular activity.  The plexiglass of his helmet reflects back the scene in front of him, such as the Lunar Module and Astronaut Armstrong taking his picture.

Astronaut Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., lunar module pilot, descends steps of Lunar Module ladder as he prepares to walk on the moon.  He had just egressed the LM.  This picture was taken by astronaut Neil A. Armstrong, commander, during the Apollo 11 EVA.

Neil Armstrong, the courageous and cool commander of the Apollo 11 flight and first man on the moon; Edwin E. Aldrin, command pilot of Lunar Module and the second man on the moon; Michael Collins, pilot of Command Module, who flew the Command Module alone while his comrades were on the surface of the moon.  Three names for Immortality, inscribed on the rolls of history for all times.
