Death of a Star, Egg Nebula

Space Views from he Hubble Telescope
Death of a Star: Egg Nebula

The Egg Nebula is a large cloud of dust and gas ejected by the star and expanding at a speed of 115,000 miles per hour.  Such nebulae are a rare sight; they are in an evolutionary phase that lasts a very short time (1,000-2,000 years)

This postcard is postmarked in 2007.
