Supernova Rings from the Hubble Space Telescope

Supernova Rings
This image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope's Wide Field Planetary camera shows a mysterious pair of rings of glowing gas that surround the location of a supernova explosion known as 1987A.  The supernova is almost 170,000 light-years away.

This postcard is postmarked in 2006.
